48 Years of Failed Embargo: Time to Reconsider Cuba Policy for Conferences and Events

If we want Castro gone, flood the island with good ol American currency and American tourists. The asshat will be gone before you know it.

Opening up the island would also do wonders for the American meetings and events industry. We would have a whole new playground to work for and conferences would flourish there, Incentives would see a huge bump, other islands would get in the game when Cuban hotels are filled and cruise lines would see a boost as they would have a whole new port of call.

By denying Americans the right to travel to Cuba, we are hurting Americans and Cubans and none are seeing any benefit from this dumb ass, moronic, useless, senseless embargo.

Before you get all up in my “they are socialist” shit, let me tell you a little story. Cuba is the ONLY country that Americans are prevented by law to travel too. Does that not strike you as a little hypocritical.

Want to go to Iran, pony up the funds.. China, get a visa, Somalia… Have at it… Want to go to a little island that is NO threat to the United States and has a 1000 year old leader? For that you will go to jail. That is the dumbest shit I have ever heard of.

The average Cuban loves the United States. They have died time and time again trying to get here to be free. Wouldn’t it be nice to actually go and learn about them, spend our money and support them where they live? Flooding the island with American dollars will not prolong the the life of the douchebag Cuban government, it will derail it and hasten its demise sending it to the dustbin of history.

By allowing every other free nation (Canada, The European Union) the opportunity to travel there and do business there, the American Government is depriving us the opportunity to do some serious, kick ass business. That is unforgivable in this Economy.

I would say that it is time for our long winded, chicken shit, industry associations to take a stand…. They should come out tomorrow, calling for an end to the ridiculous charade that is the Cuban Embargo.

That’s the end of my rant…
