An event planner scours the internet daily. We are always looking for new destinations, new event venues, new decor ideas, new speakers, new sponsors, and a ton of other stuff. Some use Evernote or OneNote. Others use Word Docs or Google Keep. My personal favorite is Evernote. No matter the tool, one constant holds true about any online hoarding method: it works for some, but maybe not for you.
Let me tell you a story about me and what works.
I write. I write a lot: articles, posts, web copy, emails. I am always looking for that magic that will make my life easier as a writer. I have tried this program and that program; I have used Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Searching, always searching. I even have a new writing program that is supposed to be flat-out incredible and sprinkled with magic internet dust, and it still sits on my hard drive, waiting to be installed because I keep returning to the one program I always use…Notepad.
Good old Notepad. That stupid, simple, not formatted, good ol text editor. No flash, no bang, no sexy. For me, it works, and I will probably always use that little guy because it is comfortable. When you find something you are comfortable with, you will continue to use it (hello email).
