Well, another week has passed and what do we have to show for it?
Well, for me, I was able to get a client site launched into cyberspace, I have completed another client’s online registration and I was able to get downtown and check out the location for the upcoming Site Chicago annual auction and fundraiser (meeting, event and incentive planners in Chicago, you better be there).
I also had time to get a couple of new video interviews done, ride my bike with my kid (twice) and a host of other stuff…..Including picking up a great new client for some social media coaching!
I was really stoked to share the Conference Plugin with everyone. With this plugin and a couple of other nifty tools, you should be able to migrate your conference website to WordPress and quit bitching about how hard the internet is…..
But I prattle….
Here are 5 links that will help you in your quest to be the best freaking meeting and event planner on the planet.
Be a Better Twitter User
I have seen an uptick on the amount of crappy spam that is coming from business accounts lately… is this the reason why and are you one of the people that clicks ALLOW every time some new application wants to access your accounts?
You Can’t?? Don’t be a Putz
Can’t is an awful word and I hear from meeting and event planners all of the time. We can’t change the format, we can’t try something new, we can’t…….whatever dude. If you want to change the format of your event CHANGE IT… it is that easy.
Can’t is B.S., you know it and now I am handing you over to Erika.
Change Your Social Media Thinking
I love Francisco and he has some great guest posters and this is one of those times…
Have You Met Plan Your Meetings?
The best publication (online or other) in the meetings and events industry is, hands down, Plan Your Meetings and I am not biased just because I am speaking at their October PYM Live Event here in Chicago… I really mean it. They love what they do and it shows, they are not simply going through the motions while some parent company barks about revenue like many of our trade mags. Check out this article and you can get a sense for what I mean and while you are at it, have a look around the rest of the site.
Bad Bad Traci Brown…Baddest Blogger in the Whole Damn…….
OK, now that you have a song that is going to stick in your head for the rest of the day, let me point you over to Traci’s post about exhibitor’s that don’t follow up.. a really big pet peeve for about 98% of the show going public including meeting and event planners. The other 2% are only there for the booze so they don’t count.
Oh, and Traci, PC Nametag will now bombard you with marketing materials 24/7 for the rest of eternity…. LOL. At least they are smart and use targeted marketing as you mention.
