The Event Planning Round Up

Hi All! Here are some stories from the past week that I thought might interest you!

A Security Warning for WordPress

Event Marketers using WordPress will want to update as soon as possible, thanks to Michelle Bruno for sharing this with me:

A New Twitter Chat for Event Professionals

The lovely Jenise Fryatt is making some big changes and introducing a new Twitter Chat for Event Professionals called #eventtable. She is doing this in conjunction with the AMAZING Mitchell Beer (someone I fell out of touch with but respect more than anyone else in the industry) so it is going to be good.

I wish her the bestest of luck and maybe I can actually make it for a chat or two…..

Pinterest – For Meetings and Events?

I just started messing around with Pinterest to see if there is anything worthwhile for meeting and event planners and marketers (short answer, yes, maybe), be on the lookout for a review. In the meantime, I HIGHLY recommend Francisco Rosales’s kick ass post that covers pretty much everything you would want to know.

Can the Trade Show Industry Innovate?

Speaking of Michelle Bruno, while I was checking out her blog to get a link for the security info up above, I came across this post from last August.

What The Hell is Wrong with Hyatt

I am not sure what is going through the minds of Hyatt Management but they have been acting like the Robber Barons of old or maybe even Scrooge. It seems that they are set to layoff tons of low paid workers, AFTER these workers bust their ass for the company during the SuperBowl (the layoffs will be at the Indianapolis Hyatt).  A group of Indiana and NFL labor leaders plan to protest this week (good for them).

This comes after this incident last September,  this incident from 2009 and the recent takeover of the Lost Pines Resort and Spa by an anti-gay right wing nutjob.

If I were the workers, I would walk out now and say Fuck You, let management clean the freaking rooms of all the $1000.00 a night SuperBowl fans.
