This past weekend was a blur, due to the heavy rains in Chicago; it felt like we should start building an arc and gathering up the pets 2×2….. flooded everything in my little corner of Chicagoland. One of the worst things about all of this is that I am having to miss MPI WEC in Orlando where I was supposed to be a social media reporter and also involved with a session on Sunday.
Even dark clouds have a bright spot occasionally. I was able to pull myself away from the carpet pulling and box hauling to attend Marriott International’s customer appreciation event at the Jimmy Buffet concert at Toyota Park in Chicago (well, actually Bridgeview).
A great time was had by all and it was fun to reconnect with all of the sales reps from across the country. These events have been forgotten by many organizations due to the economy and that is short sighted. Saving a dime at the expense of a dollar is never a good strategy.
Toyota Park was is an amazing venue and meeting and event planners should keep it in mind for any corporate hospitality related events that they have coming up. They did a great job with the set up, the food and the drinks, all of which got me to think about something other than swimming in the basement.
Here are a couple of images, later today I will come back in and link to the Flickr Set.
