Each week I painstakingly scour every last inch of the internet looking for 5 things worthy of a meeting planners attention. It could be an article, a service, an app, a review, a video, or a podcast. You simply never know what is going to pop up.
I don’t spend much time on each, just a brief synopsis of what is behind the curtain, your interest or curiosity must do the rest.
The Friday 5 for September 13, 2013
On the Sustainable Meetings Front
As our little blue ball spins deeper into the 21st Century, I am always shocked and amazed at how little the meetings and events industry does on the green meetings front. Seriously.. we have been talking about this shit for well over a decade and barely anyone takes notice. It is sad really…. Anyway, enough gloom and doom, it is already Friday the 13th. On a happy note, here is one hotel doing a little something and saving a ton of cash in the process.
Travel for the Meeting Professional
I always love posts that show me what another geek thinks is essential in their “plane” bag. I couple of years ago I did a post on mine and have been meaning to update it. We are now in the tablet era and my bag has added two gadgets and dropped one. Until I can get off of my lazy (yeah right) butt and write that post, here is a look into the bag of Chris Perez, editor of Citygram Magazine. While Chris is not in the event industry, the tools and items he carries will be right at home in any meeting planners travel bag.
From the “you can build a better mousetrap” file comes Coatchex…. yep. Someone found a way to make the old coat check system way more awesome, secure, and cool. Who knew.
Does your nonprofit need a Social Media Manager? It might and this post aims to help you know if you should be thinking about hiring one.
