The Google I/O 2015 Keynote is Meeting Planner Heaven

Last week was Google I/O. For those non-techies in my crowd, this is Google’s annual conference, where they show off new products and developments, kinda like what Apple does, only better. For people into eventtech, this is a special holiday that comes but once a year, and it is gone in the blink of an eye.

Google always has impressive keynote sessions, and the following video is no exception. I don’t expect everyone to watch the whole two hours of the opening, but you can learn a lot if you stick it out or just skip around. In the first five minutes alone, you get an awesome opening followed by Google Senior Vice President Sundar Pichai welcoming the audience and thanking them for their patience in getting through the long lines (see, no conference is perfect). He throws a shout-out to the 2 million (yes, million) people watching worldwide via the live stream (do you stream), and he introduces some of the 460 live locations in 90 countries across six continents that are held in conjunction with I/O (from Mexico to Kenya and everywhere in-between).

We, You, I can learn from Google as they turn the boring, crappy keynote on its head. They embrace the fact and understand that the members of this tribe did not come to Google I/O for a perfect presentation, perfect check-in, and a perfect conference (although I am sure they are spectacular at execution); The audience is here because they love tech, they love Google, and they really love the community and in return Google gives them the respect that we should all give our attendees…

My hat is off to the team that created this amazing event. It rocks…
