Maximizing Impact: Leveraging Video Marketing in Events

Every event tells a story. There is a beginning, a middle, and end. All you need is good planning, great execution and a little luck on to make it a happy tale and not something out of Grimm’s…  But if event marketers are not telling the story to those that did not attend the event, they are missing a huge opportunity.

Most conference organizers stay out of the video marketing pool because they think that they need $10,000 cameras, fancy editing software, big lighting rigs, and Steven Spielberg in order to dive in. Good for them. Let them wait for the perfect storm of money and know how. We can get started today.

I work with many clients that think they need all of that awesome stuff. They don’t have the budget, they don’t have the knowledge, and they don’t know where to begin. They are sad and I want to bring a little sprinkle of happy to their day. Imagine the surprise when I tell them that we only need the will, an iPhone, and a little creativity. I tell them that anyone with off the shelf hardware, inexpensive software, and easy to use apps can create some cool marketing videos for any conference. Let me prove it…

This commercial for Bentley, yes that Bentley, the car that costs as much as many of your annual conference budgets, spotlights what can be done with simple tools. This entire marketing video was shot on an iPhone 5. If they can do it, so can you. Here is a link to see how they did it (and know that you can get a good stabilizer for hand-held shots for about $150.00).

Now that you know that it can be done. Here is why it should be done. This cool infographic from Quicksprout gives you the data. The numbers that show that video works.

Video marketing allows potential attendees a window into your world and what they can expect by being there. Don’t miss out because someone tells you it can’t be done.
