One Page Website Design for Events and Conferences

Here is something that I bet you never thought you would hear me say…

  • Not all events need an app
  • Not all events need a content marketing program
  • Not all events need an amazingly huge web presence

Some don’t, and there are tons of reasons why. Maybe it is a once-a-year fundraiser, it might be an association holiday shindig, or maybe it is an all-day event that only has one speaker…

The reasons don’t matter if your event is in this category; it just is.

Now, just because you are lucky and your event does not need a huge web presence and all of the B.S. that goes with it, this does not mean that your event website should look like crap. You still have a reputation and an image. I am no longer a suit and tie guy but the couple of suits that I do own are bomb-diggity. When I have to dress up, I do it right.

The same should hold for your event and the web space that you occupy. Just because something is simple does not mean that it cannot be elegant, functional, and beautiful.

To create a unique but simple website, I recommend going with a “one-page design.” This trend has been around for a while and offers the attendee all of the information on one page… let’s jump to the example portion of the program…..

Here are three current conferences/events using one-page sites

Nearly Impossible

Nearly Impossible is an event for people who make and sell physical products. The two-day conference will focus on the stories of how companies have tackled their biggest hurdles and the tools we can all use to make even the biggest challenges seem more possible.

Ready to Inspire is a conference about the craft of web design, type and code. It has workshops, live music, meetups and parties.

Creating One-Page Websites for Your Conference or Event

To create an amazing one-page website, you need to use the proper tools. You need something that will allow you to be creative, that is user-friendly and cross-platform compatible. Whatever you create should look good on a laptop, iPhone, or tablet…. if it doesn’t, you have failed your attendees. It’s a good thing there are some great virtual hammers and screwdrivers out there….

These are two tools I use for my client’s simple web needs. They are easy to use, low cost, and focused on single-page design.
